know - it's not easy visiting a new church for the first time.
Sometimes you feel like a nonmember visiting a country club. Do I belong
here? Am I really welcome? Will the people be unfriendly, or too friendly?
Will I be conspicuous? Will it be easy to leave if I don't enjoy it?
Will they ask me for money? Will my kids enjoy it? How should I dress?
Am I welcome if I don't believe like they do?
a church, we want visiting Faith Assembly to be an enjoyable
experience; easy, stress-free, relaxing. We designed Faith to be "
user-friendly" for people, whatever their background, including
those who have never been to church before. If we were visiting a new
church for the first time, we would like to know what to expect, so
here's a brief overview.
Sunday meeting times at Faith Assembly of God (on Farmington
Road, the frontage road from either the College Park or Summerville
exit) are Sunday morning (9 & 11 am) and Sunday evening (6 pm).
We have home (Life) Groups that meet throughout the week in various
locations throughout the tri-county area, click here for info on our
the front door, there will be some friendly people (we call
them "greeters") to say hello, answer any questions you have,
and direct you to the auditorium. If you have kids, they can point you
to the kids' classes. Kids really enjoy the FaithKidz programs for infants
through 6th grade, available during all services. The entire FaithKidz
team has received training and loves kids! There is an electronic system
to notify you during the service if your child needs you.
Sunday evenings we have a dynamic service for students in Junior
High and High School (KineticYouth). We also have FaithKidz programs
for infants through the 6th grade (Nursery, Missionettes, Royal Rangers)
notice that everyone is dressed comfortably, in anything from
their "Sunday best" to "office casual" to jeans
and sneakers. If you arrive early, you are welcome to pick up information
in the lobby area, review our resources or request copies of previous
sermons - cassette and cd copies are available.
you come in the auditorium, you'll be given a copy of the week's
bulletin which has the week's announcements and an agenda for the day's
service usually begins with some upbeat music, followed by
a welcome and introduction to the theme of the day's service. We collect
an offering, which is for our members and regular attenders so you can
just sit back and enjoy the music, because either our Worship Team or
a singer will be playing and/or singing during this time. Occasionally,
there will be a drama or multimedia presentation to further explore
the day's theme. Pastor Burgbacher, or another speaker, will then offer
a prayer and will begin the message.
message usually lasts about 45 minutes, and all of the speakers
do a fantastic job making the messages interesting, enjoyable, and relevant
to daily life. The message will be based on the Bible, and will often
include interesting quotes from contemporary people, songs, or movies.
You will hear solid Christian theology in intelligent, understandable,
relevant terms. And hopefully, you'll laugh at times and maybe feel
a tug at your heart too.
prayer and song will usually follow the message. Speaking of
the Worship Team, they do a great job leading musically, with a contemporary
feel (drums, guitars, keyboards, vocalists).
the service, you'll pick up your kids from their classrooms,
and then we hope you'll stay around, meet some people in the Faith Welcome
Center. Pastor loves to meet with each visitor after the Sunday morning
service at which time we are pleased to give you a gift - to thank you
for your visit - and to offer us a chance to get to know you a little
better in a casual atmosphere.
is about God and worship, but it's also about community and
friendship, so we hope people really experience warmth and friendliness
about it...our visitors really feel comfortable - "at
home". We hope you'll stop by this weekend! And if you do, please
come and say hi, and tell us that you found out about Faith on the Internet.
